CLEs and Certification

National certification:

Unlike other countries, there are currently no national requirements or standards for qualification to practice mediation in the U.S. And although a few organizations are marketing themselves as the sole national certification organization, that is misleading.

Most State Bar Associations do provide CLEs for approved courses and many courts and other private service providers have requirements to be on their panel. If you are interested in mediating on a specific court panel or with a private service provider, we recommend that you reach out to them directly to learn more about their specific requirements.

CLEs:

Our Mediation Skills Course has been approved by the California Bar Association for 31 hours of CLE, including 2.25 Legal Ethics hours and 2.5 hours toward Recognition and Elimination of Bias.

Our Advanced Mediation Skills Course has been approved by the California Bar Association for 33.25 hours of CLE, including 2 Legal Ethics hours and .50 hours toward Substance Abuse/Mental Health.

Our Mediation Advocacy Course has been approved by the California Bar Association for 30.75 hours of CLE, including .50 Legal Ethics hours and .75 towards Recognition and Elimination of Bias.

Our Ethics in Mediation Course has been approved by the California Bar Association for 3.5 hours of CLE, all for the subfield of Legal Ethics.

Many states offer reciprocity with the CA Bar and our courses are approved in those states. Other states provide CLEs for our courses by individual application. If you have questions about specific states, please reach out to us or to your State Bar Association.  We can provide you with a course agenda to assist in obtaining CLEs.

We also hold monthly member only webinars and quarterly open webinars on a variety of topics. CLEs are provided.

Court panels:

Each court has their own requirements that change faster than we can track.  If you are inquiring to see if our course will satisfy the requirements of the court panel you wish to practice on, we recommend that you reach out to the program administrator.  We can provide you with a course agenda to assist in determining certification requirements.
